Year of the G.O.A.T.

Lessons from the 64 squares...

"Too many people spend their life in fear of making a mistake. However, here is the truth: Fear is the mistake. If you block out all the doubts and listen only to what you feel in your heart, then follow that course, you waste less time in indecision and spend more time being authentic. Life is too short to settle for part-time happiness."-Shannon L. Alder

Teaching a student the other day who was completely new to chess. As I was asking him to complete a task, he sat there frozen, unsure of himself and afraid to make the wrong move. When he finally looked up at me, I told him, "You may get it right. You may not. But neither one of those is important. What really matters is that you give it a shot and live with the outcome of your decision. Take the leap." He did, and he got it right.

On and off the chess board, great moves are made by those who operate fearlessly. No, that doesn't mean they are not afraid or nervous. They simply look that fear in the eye and move forward in spite of it. As we move into a new decade, take the leap. Job? Business? Love? Degree? If you want it, go get it! Fearlessness is freedom and you have nothing to lose but your chains. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #WarriorMindset #GOAT #TakeTheLeap #HappyNewYear
