Lessons from the 64 squares...
"There are three qualities that every individual must have to achieve success: a Monk’s patience, a Warrior’s courage, a Child’s imagination."-Sharad Vivek Sagar
New chess players are often aggressive, looking for any reason to attack all in the name of a quick win. But seasoned players are more reserved. They take their time, look for the reason and rationale, allow the game to come to them and the win takes care of itself.
While riding the train home, I saw a man being rude and disruptive to other passengers. I immediately prepared myself for the conflict that was sure to come. Then my chess mind kicked in. I breathed, stopped looking for the fight, and observed him more closely. He had a mental condition and any altercation would have been a lose/lose situation. As I released my ego, he exited the train and we all rode home in peace.
Just like every chess move does not call for a capture, every situation in life does not call for conflict. You do not have to RSVP to every fight you're invited to. Sometimes NOT fighting is where the win happens. Respond, but don't react. Diffusing is normally MUCH better than "setting it off". Sow the peace, reap the win. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #WarriorMindset #Breathe #SpeakPeace #SpeakLife
