Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Though most often played one-on-one, I consider chess a "team" sport. You have 6 different types of pieces, each with its own set of moves, strengths and weaknesses. Using each piece and knowing HOW to use each piece is essential to achieving your goal. As strong as the queen is, it is EXTREMELY difficult to find a checkmate using only one piece.

Alone, a great principal does not make a successful school. A CEO cannot run a successful company alone. LeBron, Jordan, Magic, Bird or Russell can't win playing 5 on 1. Leadership is utilizing the strengths of your team by placing them in the best position to be their greatest selves. From pawns to point guards, rooks to human resource, knights to teachers, choose your team wisely, state the goal clearly, give them the tools, put them in position...then get out of the way.
