Ohm Is Where The Heart Is

Lessons from the 64 squares...

"Krishna explains that samatvam is being able to maintain one's balance of mind in success and failure, gain and loss, pleasure and pain, and that is the aptitude of a perfect master...You can attain the highest yoga, you can have the darshan of God, if you can make your mind still and peaceful.” -Swami Satyananda

This weekend, I had the pleasure of playing chess with a yoga instructor. The games themselves were competitive and engaging, but not as much as the conversation. We talked about yoga and chess. We spoke of life and growth. We exchanged energies and both walked away from the board better men than when we first sat down. This was in stark contrast to the two men playing next to us who argued over whose move it was, demeaned each other over bad moves, and accused each other of cheating.

Both boards represent us. We can chose to berate and belittle ourselves over mistakes we make, live with a chip on our shoulder and see everything in the negative. Or we can find peace and beauty, even in our missteps. If we engage in life instead of attach to the "wins", we can grow so much more, experience all life has to offer, and walk away from this world leaving it a little better than we found it. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #WarriorMindset #Namaste
