If You Were As Smart As You THOUGHT You Were...

Lessons from the 64 squares...

"A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring."-Alexander Pope

In chess, players calculate. They see a position, play the possible moves in their head and come up with an outcome based on their info. A good player calculates. A GREAT player calculates all the way through. Many games have been lost by good players because of miscalculation. They saw the moves...but failed to carry it out all the way.

Many emotions can cause us to miscalculate: anger, anxiety, arrogance, fear. They give us a false sense of bravado. We THINK we've "got it" but with our clouded vision, we don't realize our missteps...often until it's too late. Don't be so pious, so self-righteous, so conceited that you think you have all the answers and no one can "check" you. Steve Jobs and Tupac were "good" players. But they miscalculated, didn't see the steps all the way through. It cost one his company. It cost the other his very life. Calm your ego. Listen to wise council. See the whole "board". Calculate it all the way through. These are the tenets of greatness. Be great. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #BeGreat #Perspective #WarriorMindset #ManInTheMirror
