Lessons from the 64 squares...
"Greed is the lack of confidence of one's own ability to create."-Vanna Bonta
Difficult thing to teach new chess players: you win the game by trapping the king. It is NEVER about how many pieces you capture. I've watched players who could have checkmated opponents several times over continue to gobble up pieces and promote their pawns to queens until only the opponent's king is left. But instead of the win, these games normally end in a tie because the king has no legal move but is not in danger. This is called a "stalemate".
Life isn't about grabbing all we can or showing how much we have obtained. It's about identifying, focusing, and reaching the goal. Granted, each person's goals may differ, but it is imperative to stay on task and not get distracted by the shiny things. Yes, resources can sometimes assist us in achieving our goals. But when resources BECOME the goal, we can find ourselves "stalemated", living with all of our stuff but kicking ourselves because we let the win slip away. You can't obtain enough to feed greed. So alter your appetite and dine on victory. Remember, checkmates can happen without ever capturing a piece. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #GoalDigger #WarriorMindset #StayFocused
