Lessons from the 64 squares...
"If you attack with 4 pieces, victory is almost inevitable."- Japanese chess proverb
Ujima: collective work and responsibility.
Been having a wonderful holiday season with family and friends but something has been seriously bothering me. I have been seeing an incredible amount of post about missing black children, especially teens. Now, I'm not sure if these are runaways, abductions, or just attention seekers putting up fake posts. But whatever the case, I had to question us on this third day of Kwanzaa. Where is the village?
Where is our collective responsibility when it comes to protecting the minds, bodies and spirits of our youth? Is our focus so money and status driven that we have forgotten what true wealth is? Do we not remember that Kwanzaa means "first fruit" and that our first fruit are our children?
In the spirit of Ujima, let us work together to "gather the harvest". Because when fruits are left unharvested, they begin to rot. And when that happens, do we blame the fruit...or does that blame fall on the farmer? Regardless of "single mothers" or "absentee parents", our children should not have to navigate this world alone. Do the work...together. #Ujima #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #WarriorMindset #VillageLife
