Lessons from the 64 squares...
"Win as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change."- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Chess is all about respect. You start and finish every game the same, with a handshake. I tell every student that one of two things will happen when you sit at a chess table: you'll catch a W...or an L, a win or a "learn". And believe me, all chess players will catch their share of "L"s along the way. It is how you RESPOND to those Ls that makes the difference.
Leadership doesn't mean you're flawless. It means having the courage and humility to accept your missteps and come back stronger and better. Complaining, pointing fingers, belittling and berating subordinates, peers or competitors are LOSER qualities. Leaders have no fear of learning, no shame in mistakes, and show the utmost respect to those handing out lessons. No one is asking you to get USED to taking an L. But holster that ego and learn to respect the process. That W you so desperately seek is right behind the L you're afraid to take. #NOTG #ChessInRealLife #Respect#Humility #LearningOverLosing #WinWithDignity #LearnWithHonor #WarriorMindset
